A Field of Stars
Wiltshire's Salisbury plain is an excellent site for dark sky astrophotography and observation of celestial objects.
The Milky Way just began to peek over the horizon at the top of this hill when I set out to capture it. I found a beautiful solitary Oak tree to serve as my foreground for this photo.
Although some Haze and fog began to build up close to the horizons well as some low lying cloud, the view of the dust lanes was spectacular with the bright star dense regions shining through. Antares also appeared to glow and flicker (bottom right).
Thank you!
How this photo was taken
The location this photo was taken from is displayed in this map.
This was a stacked photograph of over 20 minutes exposure using a 35mm lens and tripod on the 19th of May 2020. I hiked up the hill onto salisbury plain from where I was staying from about 1:30am to 3am to watch the Milky Way rise.
